How it's calculated: a transparent, evidence-weighted score — identity & longevity from the public ABN register, reputation from verified Google reviews, and consistency from cross-checking independent platforms. Grades are proportional to the evidence. Where we search the register and can't confirm a business, the identity check scores zero rather than being quietly left out — so a firm we couldn't verify never outranks one we could. Longevity stays unscored in that case, because without a registration date there's nothing to measure.

Our honest take

Verdict: Long-established owner-operator with an outstanding record

This is one of the more convincing paper trails of the Perth roofers we've reviewed. The ABN belongs personally to Adam Dean — the same Adam Dean the website names as founder and head roofer — and it's been active since 1 July 2000, the first day the ABN system existed. The site claims the business has been operating since 1995; we can't verify back that far (no register does), but being on the ABN books from day one is at least consistent with a business that predates the system. The 'Fremantle Roofing Services' business name was formally registered in 2014.

The reviews are hard to argue with: a perfect 5.0 across 142 on Google, echoed by a 5.0 on ProductReview (albeit from only 3 reviews there). Adam is named in around 20 reviews and offsider Ben in a few more, and the themes are remarkably consistent — honest, unbiased assessments (including telling people what they don't need), punctual communication, clean sites and fair prices. When a sole trader's own name is all over the reviews like this, the reputation and the person are the same thing, which cuts both ways: total accountability, but also key-person dependency.

The honest caveats: this is a sole trader, not a company, so the 10-year written workmanship warranty the site promises is ultimately backed by an individual — worth asking how that would survive Adam retiring. And by their own admission they're a small team who aren't chasing the lowest price. Neither is a red flag; both are things to go in with your eyes open about.

Why we bother: "years in business" is the claim most roofers make and fewest prove. The register settles it — an established registered company is a materially different risk to a brand-new sole trader, and now you don't have to take anyone's word for it.

What they're actually known for New

Ranked by what customers mention — not a self-declared list

Tile roofing5 of 20 reviews
Roof restoration & painting5 of 20 reviews
General roof repairs4 of 20 reviews
Ridge capping & pointing3 of 20 reviews
Leak detection & repair2 of 20 reviews
Metal & Colorbond2 of 20 reviews
What this tells us: The review-mined taxonomy says tile-roof specialist loud and clear: tile roofing, restoration and painting, ridge capping and repointing dominate, with leak repairs alongside. Metal and Colorbond appear too, but mostly as honest assessments rather than big installs — if you have a tiled roof needing restoration, that's their heartland.

Who you'll actually deal with

Adam Dean — founder and head roofer

Adam Dean founded the business and still runs it — and unusually, we can verify the ownership directly: the ABN is registered to him personally and has been active since July 2000. His own site says he has 28 years of roof tiling and restoration experience and admits he's 'often a little grumpy before 10am' — which tells you something about how the whole page is written: plain, self-deprecating, and salesman-free. He's named in roughly 20 of the firm's Google reviews, usually for turning up himself and giving straight advice.

Alongside him is Ben Hanson, a qualified roof tiler the site credits with 20 years of roofing experience, seven of them at Fremantle Roofing Services. Reviewers name Ben too — one calls Adam and Ben 'the true old school honest and hard workers'. Those experience figures are the firm's own claims, but the fact that the same two names keep surfacing in customer reviews is about as good as corroboration gets for a small trade outfit.

What clients say

In their own words

★★★★★

Thank you Adam for your professional and unbaised assessment of our Colorbond roof. Much appreciated!

— Patrick Cresswell
★★★★★

Highly recommend. Adam was very punctual with communication at every stage. Adam and his team attended our house and did an amazing job restoring our tiled roof, removing lichen, re-pointing and fixing leaks etc.

— Rhys Kohunui
★★★★★

Adam and Ben are the true old school honest and hard workers. Would not hesitate to recommend them 100%.. Absolutely professional job and fair price Roof looks awesome. Thanks guys love your work.

— David Digby

The recurring themes across reviews are honesty and unbiased advice, punctual communication, clean and tidy work, and prices reviewers consider fair — with Adam personally named again and again.

Best for

  • Tile roof restorations — cleaning, repointing, ridge capping and repainting are what most reviewers hired them for
  • Homeowners who want the owner on the roof and a straight answer, even if that answer is 'you don't need the work done'
  • Anyone who values a written 10-year workmanship warranty and quality materials over winning the cheapest quote

Less suited for

  • Price-driven shoppers — the firm's own website says if you're just chasing the lowest price, 'we're probably not the right fit'
  • Large new-build or commercial metal roofing projects — the review history is overwhelmingly residential tile restoration and repair
  • Anyone who wants big-company structure and a large crew on tap — this is a deliberately small, sole-trader operation

Before you commit

Five questions worth asking

  • Can the 10-year workmanship warranty from your website be written into my quote, and what exactly does it cover and exclude?
  • As a sole-trader business, how would the warranty be honoured if Adam retired or the business changed hands?
  • Will Adam or Ben be doing the work themselves, or do you bring in extra crew for bigger jobs?
  • What does your Dulux Acratex-accredited restoration process involve — preparation, number of coats, and colour options?
  • You're upfront that you're not the cheapest — can you walk me through what the extra money buys on my particular roof?

Bottom line

A 26-year ABN trail that leads straight to the founder's own name, a flawless rating on two platforms, and reviews that read like the website's claims come true. If you've got a tiled roof needing restoration and you'd rather pay for craft than a sales pitch, this is exactly the profile you're looking for.
